Who is JST Coaching?

Intro.

Jimmy is the founder and head coach of JST Coaching. He loves sharing his passion for bodyflight through coaching, finding the best way to communicate with students and getting the most out of them both in the tunnel and the sky. Jimmy utilises both low speed and high speed coaching techniques to make his students the best fliers they can be.  

Background.

Coming from a small town called Bundaberg in Queensland, Australia, Jimmy has always chased anything that gets his heart rate up. From a young age, he explored many sports and interests, always looking for more, from motocross to street bikes, scuba diving to bungee jumping. This resulted in two tandem skydives over the Sunshine Coast on one day in 2012… and down a rabbit hole he went!

Jimmy has always chased the next exciting thing. After 7 years in the Australian Army working on helicopters as a life support fitter, he decided a new career was in order and turned to working in the gold mines of Western Australia. It was during this time that his love of skydiving flourished. In the first three years of his skydiving career, Jimmy was shift working in the mines for 2 weeks on and 1 week off. For his weeks off, he lived at the drop zone, jumping his ass off and learning as much as he could from some of the world’s greatest, such as the late Michael Vaughn. This pure love and enthusiasm of skydiving has resulted in him trying out many aspects of the sport - wingsuiting, swooping, free flying, speed skydiving, the list contiues….

2015 sparked a massive change in Jimmy’s career when he left Australia and headed to the UK to chase his passion for skydiving. He landed a job at IFLY Basingstoke where he pushed as hard as he could and learnt as much as possible about the development of body flight. After 3 years, Jimmy decided to turn his passion into his full time career and set up his own tunnel flying and skydiving coaching business – Jimmy’s Sky and Tunnel Coaching, aka JST Coaching.

Today.

Jimmy strives to be the best that he can be and continues to work with industry greats to improve his own flying ability and coaching skills. Over the past 4 years, not only has he coached individuals and teams to compete at both national and international levels, he has competed in national and international competitions himself in both the wind tunnel and the sky. He is looking forward to the 2022 World Championships in Eloy, Arizona, where he has qualified to represent GB in both the Speed and Freefly categories.
